چکیده
When two droplets with different surface tensions collide, the shape evolution of merging is asymmetric. Using experimental and numerical techniques, we reveal that this asymmetry caused by asymmetric capillary waves, which are result droplets. We show enhanced increasing tension difference, suppressed inertia colliding Furthermore, study waves in limit no inertia. not directly Marangoni forces. In fact, somehow counterintuitive, strongly reduced effect. Rather, intrinsic wave amplitudes velocities associated lie at origin during droplet coalescence.

Temperature-Induced Coalescence of Colliding Binary Droplets on Superhydrophobic Surface
This report investigates the impact of droplet temperature on the head-on collision of binary droplets on a superhydrophobic surface. Understanding droplet collision is critical to many fundamental processes and industrial applications. There are many factors, including collision speed, collision angle, and droplet composition, that influence the outcome of the collision between binary droplets...
متن کاملCritical angle for electrically driven coalescence of two conical droplets.
Oppositely charged drops attract one another and, when the drops are sufficiently close, electrical stresses deform the leading edges of each drop into cones. We investigate whether or not the liquid cones coalesce immediately following contact. Using high-speed imaging, we find that the coalescence behavior depends on the cone angle, which we control by varying the drop size and the applied vo...
متن کاملDecompressing emulsion droplets favors coalescence.
The destabilization process of an emulsion under flow is investigated in a microfluidic device. The experimental approach enables us to generate a periodic train of droplet pairs, and thus to isolate and analyze the basic step of the destabilization, namely, the coalescence of two droplets which collide. We demonstrate a counterintuitive phenomenon: coalescence occurs during the separation phas...
متن کاملCapillary wave motion excited by high frequency surface acoustic waves
This paper presents a numerical and experimental study of capillary wave motion excited by high frequency surface acoustic waves SAWs . The objective of this study is to provide insight into the dynamic behavior of the fluid free surface and its dependence on the excitation amplitude. A two-dimensional numerical model that couples the motion of the piezoelectric substrate to a thin liquid layer...
متن کاملGrowth of Cloud Droplets by Turbulent Collision–Coalescence
An open question in cloud physics is how rain forms in warm cumulus as rapidly as it is sometimes observed. In particular, the growth of cloud droplets across the size gap from 10 to 50 m in radius has not been fully explained. In this paper, the authors investigate the growth of cloud droplets by collision– coalescence, taking into account both the gravitational mechanism and several enhanceme...
